As a church we are young, we had our first worship service on February 17th 2008.
We are excited with what God is doing in our midst. We have already experienced God’s blessing for stepping out in faith as we transitioned from Gloria Dei Episcopal Church to Glory of God Anglican Church. It is an exciting time for us as we begin our new adventure together and we hope you can join us.
As C.S. Lewis wrote in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, “Aslan is on the move” and indeed we have felt the presence of Jesus with us.
As a community we believe we exist to glorify God and for the advancement of the Kingdom of God
in our families, community and the world through the power of the Holy Spirit as we are—
Authentic in Life,
Passionate in Worship
and Committed to Christ
We are a community that is passionate about the worship of Jesus.
We worship in the Anglican tradition and value the liturgy and theology of the English reformation while being committed to being relevant to today’s culture. We stand on the timeless, historic, mainstream Christian faith, based on the Old and New Testaments and the traditional expressions of that faith in the Apostles, Nicene and Athanasian Creeds. What C.S. Lewis famously called “Mere Christianity.” I like to say that Glory of God Church is where the ancient meets the future.
Most of all we desire that everyone in Central Florida experience the love, the forgiveness, the healing and the grace of the living God.
Thank you for visiting our website and your interest in our church.
It is a delight to extend a warm greeting to you on behalf of Glory of God Church.
We hope that you will not only learn of us through this website but you will come and check us out in person. We would love to have you join us for worship, study of God’s Word or just share a meal together.
Looking forward to meeting you soon,
Paul
—Rev. Paul W. Young, Rector—
Our Rector, Rev. Paul W. Young, was instrumental in the successful transition from Gloria Dei to Glory of God. Glory of God Church is presently an independent church that will be aligned to an Anglican Province in the future. Our Rector is a priest in good standing with the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA) under the oversight of Bishop David Anderson.
We call ourselves Anglicans because our historical roots lay in the Church of England, and that rich history and tradition impacts our worship through Liturgy (work of the people) and style.
We are Evangelical. We are Christians who define ourselves, our faith, and our lives according to the Good News of Jesus of Nazareth.
We are creedal, affirming the ancient creeds of the Church—
Primary Christian statements
The Apostles’ Creed
The Nicene Creed
Other historic statements
Creed of Saint Athanasius
Council of Chalcedon
We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe the deity of Jesus, including His pre-incarnate work in the godhead, his coming through virgin birth, His sinless life and substitutionary sacrifice upon the cross of Calvary. We believe in His bodily resurrection and ascension, and eagerly await His triumphal and glorious return.
We believe in the Bible as the inspired and inerrant Word of God, containing all things necessary for salvation, and abundant holy living.
We acknowledge our connection with all true believers in Jesus, as the body of Christ, the Church, seen and unseen in the world, but not of the world.
We believe in the doctrine of “Sola Fide”—that we are saved by Grace through Faith alone, and that this is God’s sovereign Gift to us.
We believe in holiness as the standard for our lives, which is made possible through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; who sanctifies and empowers us for daily Christian living. This empowerment comes in the form of growth in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ, and in the bestowment of the Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit.
We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to proclaim the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ, in Word and Deed to every corner of creation.
We believe that we are called to Love God with every fiber of our being and to Love others as ourselves.
Our prayer is that this brief summary about us will encourage you to come and get to know us better. Join us Sunday mornings for Worship, Wednesday evenings for study or multiple possible opportunities during the week in one of our small group Bible studies. There is always a welcoming empty seat, that we are desiring for you to fill.
