Do you know what it’s like to be hungry?
Have you ever known what it means to have hunger pains and no food? Have you ever wondered where your family’s next meal would come from?
We have people right here in our community that know these realities all too well. The purpose of the Food Ministry at the Glory of God Anglican Church is to reach out to these needy and hungry people with food assistance and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
With the help of God, our food pantry provides families with grocery bags of food usually containing a selection of fruit, vegetables, frozen food, and non-perishables such as canned vegetables, soups, beans, meats, pasta, rice, beans, breakfast cereals, juice, bread, etc. Quantity depends on availability but we make sure that none of our guests leave our church without food for their families.
Wondering how you can serve?
Jesus told us that whenever we serve “the least of these” we are serving Him. And there is no greater blessing than serving Jesus.
The Food Ministry has no overhead since it is operated by volunteers from our church. And all of the volunteers can attest to the blessings they receive when serving in our Food Ministry. If you have a servant’s heart and desire to serve Christ, we encourage you to join us in this very special ministry. Here are the areas you can serve and be blessed:
- Greeters - As a greeter, you will welcome our guests with a warm and loving heart and give them comfort. Greeters also see that our guests are properly registered to receive food.
- Servers - Our servers prepare the bags of food for our guests, restock the pantry shelves and the display areas, and clean up at the close of the pantry.
- Helpers - The helpers distribute the bags of food to our guests, retrieve the food carts and assist the greeters, servers and drivers.
- Drivers - Most of the food is purchased from a food bank in Melbourne and we depend on our drivers to get it to the church. Orders are done weekly and can be from 1,000 to 1,500 pounds of food. It is best that you have a full-size pickup truck.

Are You Wondering how you can serve? If God is calling you to serve, contact the office at the church. I can’t serve right now but I still want to help!

Mt. 25:34-36 Then the King will say to those on His right, “Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.”
