Buildings & Grounds
Our picturesque church sanctuary located on wooded grounds along the Indian River Lagoon was consecrated and dedicated on the Feast of St. Francis, October 4, 1979 by Bishop William H. Folwell.
The sanctuary with its bright red doors, a large cross constructed entirely of coquina stone, and a cherubic angel atop the informational sign by the Sanctuary present a welcoming view to all who journey up the entrance drive from Indian River Road.
Graced by a stained glass window above the altar, the church seats approximately 160 people in two rows of pews on either side of a wide center aisle. A balcony serves the audio-visual ministry along with two large screens for projecting song lyrics and other media.
The forested grounds that frame the Sanctuary include the Resurrection Garden with a memorial wall where ashes of former parishioners and their families are buried, and the educational, office and Parish Hall complex.
The Parish Hall is the main gathering place for our fellowship events. Just off the main hall is the kitchen, and a small room that serves as a Chapel. There is also a Nursery, the Children’s Sunday School room, and a Conference room for meetings and group gatherings.
That complex first hosted services for Gloria Dei Church on July 30, 1967. It remained the house of worship for the Gloria Dei spiritual community until the church was constructed. Renovation of these older facilities followed, with completion of the beautiful courtyard and paving of the wide entrance drive in 1985.
Known now as Glory of God Church, maintaining our beautiful facilities and the expansive wooded grounds are dependent upon our parishioners. We always welcome helping hands!
